Elina Dow is a Sussex based writer currently studying for an MA in Creative Writing at the University of Brighton. She primarily writes prose – from flash fiction and short stories to novels and novellas – and is a member of West Sussex Writers.

Elina has been an avid reader since a young age and has always enjoyed writing. She has spent time living in Nottingham and travelled many parts of the world before settling in Sussex with her long-term partner and their cat. When not writing, she enjoys reading in front of the fire and walks in the country.


Highlights

  • In November 2019, Elina commenced the course “Hidden Meanings: Creative Fiction, Non-fiction, and Facts” with The International Writing Program at the University of Iowa.
  • In October 2019, Elina obtained a merit for her creative writing MA.
  • In May 2019, Elina founded Black Cat Tales, offering creative writing workshops in Sussex.
  • In April 2019, Elina edited and produced the anthology Bookish, in collaboration with the Steyning Bookshop.
  • In February 2019, Elina began working as the Steyning Bookshop’s writer in residence.
  • In December 2018, Elina co-published the anthology dragonflies, in which her flash fiction series ‘Hidden Moments’ appears.
  • In November 2018, Elina’s story ‘Shadowed Haven’ was shortlisted in the Waterstones ‘Write and Raise’ Short Fiction Prize 2018.
  • In September 2018, Elina commenced an MA in creative writing with The University of Brighton.
